– With the recent rain and snowfall throughout the region, planting and growing conditions for area farmers have improved. Assistant Professor with Horticulture at Texas A&M University-Commerce Dr. Derald Harp says current conditions are now about normal. He says that in addition to corn production, other crops like wheat should show signs of life this spring. Harp says drought was a small concern before the recent precipitation and hopes the combination of rain and sunlight are just right this year, noting the disadvantages of last year being too wet, and too dry in 2006.
