Recount to take place Thursday in wet-dry election

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – A recount in the recently approved wet-dry election in Quinlan is scheduled for Thursday.

Filing for a recount was made last Friday.

On Nov 2, Quinlan residents approved the sale of beer and wine for off premise consumption by a 179-176 margin. It was the second straight year Quinlan citizens had received enough petitions to put such an item on the ballot. A similar measure was rejected by voters in 2009.

The last recount to be conducted by the Hunt County Voter Administration Office came back in May at the request of Commerce resident Sue Davis, who had originally lost by one vote to Incumbent Council Place 4 Candidate Bob Monday. Davis would win the recount, defeating Monday by two votes.

KETR will have election totals from Quinlan's wet-dry recount as soon as they become available.
