Dallas – In one year, only 11 schools will remain in the Lone Star Conference following announcements earlier this summer that five Oklahoma Schools are leaving.
During a meeting this week, the presidents of those remaining schools, including A&M-Commerce, adopted a pledge of commitment to the LSC.
Conference Commissioner Stan Wagnon, in a press release issued Wednesday, says the decision reflects the desire of those institutions to move forward and look to the future.
Earlier this summer, five member schools - University of Central Oklahoma, East Central University, Northeastern State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University - announced their intentions to withdraw from the league.
Beginning with the 2011-12 athletic seasons, LSC members will include: Abilene Christian University, Angelo State University, Cameron University, Eastern New Mexico University, University of the Incarnate Word, Midwestern State University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Texas Woman's University and West Texas A&M University.
