Remedial order for Hopkins County jail lifted

By Scott Harvey

Hopkins County – After several months under remedial order, The Texas Commission on Jail Standards has removed Hopkins County from the list.

County Sheriff Butch Adams and the other officials appeared before the Commission last Thursday in Austin.

A constant problem at the jail facility has been overcrowding, but as of late last week the figure was only 72. The jail is capable of holding up to 100 inmates. If that count is exceeded, they are housed in the Franklin, Titus or Rains County facilities.
