Two people are reported dead following the crash of a small plane near Quinlan, in southern Hunt County.

Update, 3:24 p.m.: The aircraft in a fatal crash near Quinlan this morning has been identified as a Piper PA-24, which was reported to have taken off from the nearby T14 Rockin M airport.

Original story: Two people were killed this afternoon when an airplane crashed near Quinlan, the Greenville Herald-Banner reports.

The crash occurred at around 1 p.m. at the intersection of FM 2101 and County Road 3511, not far from the T-14 private airport, the report said.

Two people were reported killed in the accident, although their identies and details about the plane were not available immediately. A distress call was received by the control tower at L-3 Mission Integration/Majors Field Municipal Airport in Greenville, the report said.

The plane was reported to have burst into flames when it crashed into tall grass just off the county road, narrowly missing a house.
