Republicans sweep Delta Co. races

Delta County Republicans will be celebrating tonight as each won their local races here on this rainy election night. Republican Jason Murray received 881 votes for 63 percent to Democrat Ted Carrington’s 516 for 34 percent in the County Judge race.

There will be a new man at the helm as Delta County Precinct 2 Commissioner with Republican Gary Anderson winning with 60 percent of the votes (179) to longtime incumbent Democrat Max Moody’s 40 percent (119).

Holding onto his Precinct 3 title will be Republican Loyd Vandygriff, as he earned 68 percent or 203 votes cast to write-in candidate David Mims, who received 96 votes for only 32 percent.

The first boxes began rolling in about 7:20 p.m. tonight and continued for about an hour. Personal appearance early voting came to 453.
