Royse City Superintendent put on leave

By Kevin Jefferies

Royse City – Royse City Superintendent Mike Harris has been put on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into stolen fuel from the school district. Harris is one of several suspects in an investigation regarding several hundred dollars worth of fuel taken from the transportation department of the district. Harris maintains his innocence and the leave is not said to be any indication of guilt or any decisions made by the school board.

Harris was hired by the Royse City ISD in March of last year and is the fifth person to hold the title of superintendent in Royse City since 2003, after long-time Superintendent Bill Fort retired. RCISD Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Butler has been named acting superintendent.
