Scam artists back in Sulphur Springs

By Kevin Jefferies

Sulphur Springs – A trio of con artists is back in Sulphur Springs looking to find the latest victims of their scam. The Sulphur Springs News Telegram reports that so far, police have not received reports of anyone falling victim to the con artists that have been primarily targeting the elderly.

The story the men use differs, but basically revolves around the need for an American Bank account so some charitable donation, such as a donation to the target's church, can be made. Two men, who have only been described as black males, approach the intended victim offering money while the third person waits in a car. They often tell they are from Nigeria and use obvious communication problems to confuse the victim.

Sulphur Springs Police urge everyone, and particularly senior citizens, to be extremely cautious of such situations where free money is being offered.
