School supply giveaway on Saturday

provided photo

With classes starting in Greenville Monday, one local organization still has a major school supply giveaway scheduled Saturday morning.

Pre-registration has already closed for the Back To School Extravaganza, which is sponsored each summer by the Greenville North Community Association and which typically draws hundreds of children and their parents.

This year’s giveaway, for kids in kindergarten through 12th grade, is hosted by Love and Faith Fellowship Church and will take place between 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club/Reecy Davis Center, 4320 Lee Street, and will provide free school supplies for those preregistered.

Anyone not registered for the event is still invited to attend and will be able to receive what supplies are left over.

The parents must bring proof their child or children are in school and have their child or children present.

Those needing school uniforms can visit a free store at the event, although the child or children must be present. Organizers say the sizes at the store will vary and the uniforms will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Barbers will also be providing free haircuts on a first come, first served basis.

Those attending the Back To School Extravaganza can sign up for the free lunch program through the Greenville Independent School District. The Boys and Girls Club will be providing games and other organizations will be giving away items during the event, including Walmart, which will be offering free eye exams. Free eye exams by Walmart.

Organizers note the games, raffles and other activities scheduled as part of the Back To School Extravaganza are open to anyone, whether they need assistance or not.
