Schools districts save by nixing uncontested elections

Paris ISD

Two Lamar County school districts have cancelled their upcoming school board elections, saving the districts thousands of dollars.

KXII-TV reports that Paris ISD and RoxtonISD trustees voted this week to cancel the May 10 election because all three incumbents for both districts, that filed for reelection, have no opponents.

Paris ISD will save $8,000 while RoxtonISD will save around $2,400.

North Lamar, Chisum and PrairilandISD's will still hold elections.
