SCOTUS Denies Hopkins County Man's Appeal Hearing

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to review an appeal from A Sulphur Springs man sentenced in the 2000 murder of a city woman.

Forty-six-year-old Daniel Acker was convicted for killing Marquetta George 18 years ago. Acker has since argued that his trial excluded evidence that would prove he did not kill George. He’s also accused his original defense team of being inept.

Prosecutors claim Acker dumped George’s body on a Hopkins County road after murdering her. Acker says George jumped from his car and was struck and killed by another vehicle.
