– Texas State Senator for District Two Bob Deuell (R-Greenville) was recently presented with the "Legislator of the Year" award by the Texas Organization of Residential Care Homes (TORCH).
The award comes from his work on healthcare during the 81st Legislative Session.
Sandy Peterson, an assisted living home owner from Greenville and TORCH Government Relations Chair, presented Sen. Deuell with the award at the historic Menger Hotel in San Antonio.
"Both residents and business owners can sleep soundly knowing Senator Deuell is working for them in Austin," Peterson said.
"Sen. Deuell provided invaluable leadership on health care during the recent legislative session. He is truly a friend of assisted living residents and providers," said TORCH President Karl Johnson. "As a practicing physician he uniquely understands the needs of assisted living residents and providers. TORCH sincerely appreciates his leadership and service in Austin."
Sen. Deuell, a family physician in Greenville, said he was honored to be recognized by an organization that fights for residents of assisted living and residential care homes.
"TORCH works hard to ensure that the elderly and disabled have access to the quality healthcare and high standard of living that is their right in the state of Texas," Sen. Deuell said. "I've enjoyed working with them since I took office and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the future."
Senator Deuell represent the citizens of Senate District Two, which includes all of Delta, Hopkins, Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman, Fannin, Rains, and Van Zandt counties, and parts of Dallas and Smith counties.
