Sentence pending in robbery, assault of peace officer trial

GREENVILLE - Guilty verdicts have been returned by a jury against Guadalupe Ramirez III for the armed holdup of a Hunt County game room and a shootout with a deputy.

A sentence is pending for Ramirez on one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer. Both charges carry a maximum punishment of life in prison.

Ramirez, of Greenville, as well as Darius Demont Williams, of Van Alstyne, allegedly acted alongside Vincent Thomas in the February 2010 crime. Thomas was killed during a shootout with a sheriff’s deputy as the men were trying to flee. Trial for Williams is scheduled for next year.
