Sentencing date still unclear in murder case

By Brad Kellar

Campbell – A sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled for a Hunt County man, who's confessed to killing his wife.

While it is unclear when a formal sentencing hearing will be held, a status hearing for James Ray Brown Jr., of Campbell, will take place Thursday. The 32-year-old entered an open plea of guilty to the charge in June.

Brown reportedly killed his wife, Avis Baker Brown, at the couples' home in October, 2008.

He is facing a maximum sentence of from five to 99 years to life in prison.
