Sentencing today in capital murder case

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – A Hunt County jury is set to decide today the fate of Arthur Lee Allen Jr., who was convicted of capital murder last week. The Quinlan-area man now faces life in prison or death by lethal injection.

Allen was convicted of the murder of his wife's aunt, Hazel Shores. Shores died in May of stab wounds to the throat and neck. Allen was alleged to have stolen around $200 from Shores and to have taken her '92 Toyota Camry. Allen was arrested in Dallas while driving the vehicle and had the victim's blood on his clothing.

If given the death penalty, Allen would join two other Hunt County men currently sitting on Texas' death row.
