Sulphur Springs – A series of meetings last week to discuss downtown revitalization in Sulphur Springs was well attended by the community.
Ian Lockwood, a senior transportation engineer who assisted in the 2008 Main Street project says the main concern expressed was a change to and limitation of parking availability, especially for bank and courthouse employees.
He said overall people are excited about a new downtown, which may possible include a switch from one to two-way streets. Lockwood says additional studies are needed to determine if such a function would be ideal.
He believes fully that a new downtown will include many more trees, better parking and account for the current soldier memorials.
Lockwood will return in about a month to construct an outline of the project and attempt to include all suggestions given during last week's meetings.
