Brad Kellar

Hunt County government officials are due to be sworn-in to office Thursday morning, to start the new year.

A swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the 354th District Court, on the third floor of the Hunt County Courthouse.

Many of those who will be taking the oath of office are individuals who are already in the position, although there are a few new faces who will be sworn-in during the ceremony, including Andrew Bench, who will be the next 196th District Court Judge. Bench has been the judge of the Hunt County Court at Law No. 1, but  won the position during the March GOP primary, defeating Steve Tittle.

Tittle later resigned from the post, which has been filled on an interim basis by Judge Joe Leonard. Timothy Linden is due to be sworn-in Thursday as the next judge of the Hunt County Court at Law No. 1.

Among the others expected to take the oath of office during Thursday’s ceremony will be Hunt County Judge John Horn,  District Clerk Stacey Lsndrum, County Clerk Jennifer Lindenzweig and County Treasurer Delores Shelton.

Tod McMahan is scheduled to be sworn at the next County Commissioner for Precinct 2. McMahan won the position in the March primary after incumbent Jay Atkins chose not to seek re-election.

Also returning to their respective offices are County Commissioner, Precinct 4 Jim Latham, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, Place 2 Shelia Linden, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Jennifer Reeves, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 Aaron Williams and Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4 Dsvid H. McNabb Jr.

Thursday’s ceremony is open to the public.
