Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for parts of the area

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southern Collin County and Rockwall County until 4:30pm.  

UPDATE at 4:25pm: Listener reports that there's hail the size of half-dollars falling in Rockwall.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FORT WORTH HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHERN COLLIN COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS...
  ROCKWALL COUNTY IN NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS...

* UNTIL 430 PM CDT

* AT 344 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS DETECTED A
  SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL...AND
  DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR
  ROCKWALL...MOVING NORTH AT 15 MPH. ANOTHER STRONG STORM WAS ALSO
  LOCATED NEAR RICHARDSON MOVING NORTH TOWARDS PLANO.

* THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR...
  ROYSE CITY AROUND 355 PM...
  MURPHY AROUND 405 PM...
  WYLIE...PARKER AND PLANO AROUND 415 PM...
  FARMERSVILLE...PRINCETON...LOWRY CROSSING AND LUCAS AROUND 430
  PM...

THIS WILL IMPACT THE FOLLOWING INTERSTATES...
I-30 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 62 AND 66...
I-635 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 12 AND 13.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTSIDE...SEEK SHELTER IN A STRONG BUILDING AND
STAY INSIDE...AWAY FROM WINDOWS UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED.
