Severe weather possible in Northeast Texas

Northeast Texas should experience strong to severe thunderstorms tonight, with lightning, high winds and large hail being the primary threats expected, according to the National Weather Service.

The highest risk for severe weather in Texas lies in areas east of a Kanawha-Como-Mineola line, according to predictions from the Shreveport, La., NWS office.

Flooding and isolated tornadoes are also possible throughout the region, the NWS said.

A large storm system is expected to sweep across the central United States tonight, with the highest risk  in the region around the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Ohio River. The chance for severe weather is greatest in an area stretching from Northeast Texas to Southwestern Michigan.
