Severe weather season approaching

By Scott Harvey

As severe weather season begins to bear down on Northeast Texas, residents are reminded to be prepared.

Speaking with the Morning Blend Tuesday, Hunt County Fire Marshall and Emergency Management Coordinator Richard Hill says the best thing a family can do is have an emergency preparedness plan. He says it's important to declare a central location where you and your family can meet in the event of server weather, or even a designated contact to call to make sure everyone is safe.

Hill also stressed the importance of purchasing a NOAA weather radio (NWR). NWR is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the nearest National Weather Service office; in this case, the office in Forth Worth. NWR broadcasts official Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts and other hazard information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
