Sewage dump approved

By Kevin Jefferies

Lone Oak – A permit has been approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a controversial sewage dump near Lone Oak. The decision has been more than a year in the making. Hunt County Commissioners officially opposed the proposed dump, as did many residents in the nearby area; but the TCEQ said all the requirements for using the land as a sewage dump have been met and they have found no reason to think undue harm will be done to the local environment.

Final permits are yet to be issued, but likely will be. The dump will cover 40 acres.
