Sharing the vision: Eyeglass donations needed

October is “Sharing the Vision” month. Lions Club International has announced their Centennial Service Challenge.

With this, the local Lions Club of Cooper would like the public to know there are collection boxes for donations of eyeglasses at Miller’s Pharmacy, Cooper Home Health, Cooper Post Office, Lowery Medical Supply and many of the area churches. Plus the Club will be accepting gently used eyeglasses at the upcoming fundraising Pancake Breakfast annually held at the Cooper Volunteer Fire Station on Saturday morning of Chiggerfest Oct. 18 and at the Health Fair at the Civic Center that same day.

“That is our goal – to help people with sight,” said Lions Club President Diane Stegall. The Club recycles these frames to help provide glasses for others in need. The local Club also works closely with Paris Optical and Drs. Colton and Katie Wicks to help students with vision needs.

Internationally the Club has been serving 25 million people.
