Shattered Dreams, a three-day event designed to help teach local high school students about the dangers of drinking and driving, begins this afternoon in Greenville.
Organized by DrugFree Greenville, Shattered Dreams will commence at approximately 1:45 p.m. with a staged fatal vehicle crash on the campus of Greenville High School.
Announcements will be made four times an hour throughout the day over the school’s public address system, representing the individuals killed by drunk/drugged drivers every 15 minutes.
Students at the high school will hear obituaries for the students “killed” in the crash, who will spend the night away from their families.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, a full memorial service will take place in the Greenville High School gymnasium.
Shattered Dreams will conclude at 7 p.m. Thursday with a mock trial of the individual charged in connection with the accident.
Shattered Dreams is being presented locally for the first time since 2010.
