Shelter looks to find home for deployed soldier's pets

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A Commerce soldier, after learning he'll be deployed to Iraq, is forced to put his two pets up for adoption.

The city's animal shelter is now asking for your help in finding a home for Max and Patches; the soldier's cat and dog. Max is a domestic shorthair and Patches is a female Australian Sheppard mix.

As both animals were raised together, it is preferred they go to the same home if possible.

Shelter employee Kat Walsh felt finding a home for the soldier's pets was the right thing to do.

"I felt like I needed to do something to give back because he's fighting for us."

Information on Max and Patches is available by calling the Commerce Animal Shelter at 903-886-1160.
