Sheriff's officials investigate riot at high school

By Scott Harvey

Roxton – Possible assault charges could be filed after reports of a riot involving 75 people at Roxton High School.

The argument broke out following a basketball game Friday night between Roxton and Dodd City.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff's Department, tensions had been running high between fans of both schools during the game and afterward, two opposing fans started to fight and a riot broke out.

It took two undercover Fannin County officers, two Lamar County reserve officers, three on-duty deputies and several state troopers to quell the riot.

The Dodd City basketball team, who had won the game, were escorted to the locker room for safety.
