Not many details were available; however, Hopkins County law enforcement reported a single vehicle rollover accident occurred Tuesday afternoon killing the vehicle’s sole occupant.

The accident which happened near Mahoney Road intersection on State Highway 19 just outside of Sulphur Springs took the life of sixteen-year-old Cooper High School student Brayden Withrow. Withrow had just acquired his driver’s license at the beginning of July, and details of the cause of the accident had not yet been released.

Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are still working on their report.

Withrow was attending Cooper High School and enjoyed playing football for the Cooper Bulldogs despite being sidelined due to a severe injury last season.

“He was a good student. Prayers for his family,” said Cooper ISD Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger, sadden and shocked by the sudden loss. He formerly attended North Hopkins ISD.

The community is having a balloon release at 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium for Withrow Thursday night, July 27. Everyone is invited to participate and show their support for his family.
