Slideshow: Second Annual Cotton Harvest Festival

Texas Country Music artist Curtis Grimes played to the huge 2,000 plus second annual Delta County  Cotton Harvest Festival crowd Saturday night, Oct. 14 on the Square in Cooper. He and his band jumped off the stage to entertain their fans. They stayed after the concert to sign autographs and take photos.

The all-day and evening event hosted several activities including 5K run, motorcycle run, health fair, pet parade, cotton exhibits, auction, vendors, tractor pull, dancers, carnival, and more live music.

Pat Pilgrim with PPF and Cotton Harvest Committee Vice President Dustin Hunter presented Geneva and Chad Stegall with an award for the first bale of cotton ginned. They received $1,000 to which they donated $500 to the Delta Hope House, $250 to Enloe Community Center, and $250 to Enloe Fire Department. The first cotton bale was auctioned and purchased by PPF for $8,300 which proceeds go back to next year's festival.

Phillip Hurley gave a cotton demonstration to visitors at the cotton display in the former Henslee Hardware building during Saturday's event. Children enjoyed the carnival rides and vendors that were nestled on the Square in Cooper.

The event was made possible by many generous, community-minded donors. A portion of the proceeds will be given to both the Delta County Chamber of Commerce and the Delta County Economic Development Corporation.
