Smash and Grab Leaves Law Enforcement Looking For Suspects

The First Stop Food Mart, located at 808 West Dallas Avenue in Cooper, recently fell victim to a “smash and grab” robbery. Delta County Sheriff’s officers along with the Lake Country Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help in identifying four black male suspects who committed the crime on Dec. 27, 2016 at approximately 1:55 a.m.

“According to the store surveillance video footage the men were only in the store for about a minute,” explained Delta County Sheriff Investigator Chris Bettis. He believes the suspects are not local and had organized the crime prior to committing it.

The suspects broke in through the west side front glass window, stole the cash register, approximately $800 cash, cigarettes, and cell phones before the store alarm sounded. The suspects exited through the same broken window, leaving on foot. Law enforcement was quickly on the scene.

Local law enforcement officers are following up on a few leads in this case.

To report any tips leading to the arrest of the suspects please call the Lake Country Crime Stoppers hotline at 903-885-2020. Callers can remain anonymous, and a reward up to $1,000 is possible.
