Images and reports continue to roll in from the small town of West, along Interstate 35, about 20 miles south of Hillsboro.
Those images include large plumes of smoke, according to social media posts. Social media users are reporting an explosion that could be felt for many miles, apparently stemming from a fertilizer plant located in the town. According to emergency management reports, 60-70 dead, hundreds injured. Multiple reports of casualties have surfaced via social media. The Dallas Morning News spoke with a local hotel employee, who indicates leveled homes in the area.
