Some light shed on emergency HMHD meeting

By Kevin Jefferies

Greenville – Some of the mystery surrounding an emergency meeting of the Hunt Memorial Hospital District in late August begins to unfold. The Greenville Herald Banner reports a local doctor was the focus of the meeting. The Banner has filed a request under the open meetings act to have the minutes of the meeting released. A Dallas lawyer that claims to represent the doctor, whose name has not been revealed, has also filed a request to keep the minutes from the meeting private.

The only part of the meeting that has been released to the public is that the HMHD Board voted to overturn the decision of the Medical Executive Committee and they voted to reinstate initial action. What decision was overturned or what the initial action actually was is still unclear.

The Medical Executive Committee is responsible for peer reviews.
