Some local primaries will not require a general election

GREENVILLE - It’s mostly a GOP primary scene in Hunt County, with only three democratic candidates of the 37 total appearing on the May 29 ballot.

Eight of the 12 contested county races will likely be decided this spring, as they feature no Democratic Party candidates.

One of those races is for 354th District Court Judge, which pits three GOP contenders against one another. The incumbent Richard A. Beacom is facing Ray Hobson and Keith Williford.

The contest for Hunt County Sheriff features two republicans: Incumbent Randy Meeks against Richard Hill; a rematch from two years ago. The winner would face declared independent candidate W. F. Bill McClendon, who would have to wait until after the primary elections in order to obtain the signatures needed to secure a spot on the November general election ballot.
