Special Thanksgiving Programming on KETR

Join us on 88.9 KETR on Thanksgiving with special from American Public Media featuring John Birge, the Dale Warland Singers, and a special live edition of the Splendid Table with Lynne Rossetto Kasper. Then at 9am, Harvest Home: Thanksgiving with the Dale Warland Singers.

Following that, a special two hour live call-in edition of the Splendid Table, Turkey Confidential.

The Splendid Table's Turkey Confidential

A live, two-hour, call-in program on Thanksgiving morning from 10am to Noon for public radio listeners across the nation.

On Thursday, November 27 ? help is on the way for Thanksgiving cooks, kitchen helpers and their guests on this, the biggest cooking day of the year! On Thanksgiving morning, join Lynne Rossetto Kasper, the award-winning host of public radio's national food show, The Splendid Table?, for real time turkey triage during the live broadcast of Turkey Confidential 2008. This year, Lynne will be joined by a number of special guests who may include Cook's Illustrated's Christopher Kimball, road food warriors Jane and Michael Stern, wine entrepreneur Joshua Wesson and style guru Isaac Mizrahi.

Phone lines (800-537-5252) will be open nationwide from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST and the program will be simulcast live on the Web at www.splendidtable.org.

The Splendid Table's Lynne Rossetto Kasper will be available to answer listener questions during the live, two-hour program. Quickly becoming a Thanksgiving morning tradition, past shows have included everything from a cross-country trucker cooking his Thanksgiving dinner on the manifold, to a panicked first-time cook who didn't realize the turkey needed to be thawed. Lynne handles all questions with great wit, expertise and laughter.

Giving Thanks 2008: A Celebration of Fall, Food, and Gratitude

A music-and-stories celebration of Thanksgiving. Host John Birge creates a thoughtful, contemporary reflection on the meaning of the holiday?perfect for broadcast while families gather at the table to share common blessings.

For 2008, Giving Thanks brings two new guests to the Thanksgiving table.

Rabbi Harold Kushner is the best-selling author of "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" and "Living a Life that Matters." He speaks with warmth and eloquence about the meaning of gratitude in everyday life. Kushner also shares how his teenage son's death opened his heart to experience Thanksgiving more fully.

Galway Kinnell is a distinguished American poet, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and a National Book award. He'll share several poems that make a perfect Thanksgiving blessing.

Classical music is the heart and soul of Giving Thanks, and this year's selections include heartfelt, reflective performances from Lang Lang, Gustavo Dudamel, John Rutter, and the Dale Warland Singers.

Over the years, the Dale Warland Singers have provided magical performances to listeners across the country. Drawing upon the archive of those live performances, Dale Warland and host Brian Newhouse bring old and new treasures to listeners for this autumn feast.
