Spinks gets ten years for 2009 hit-and-run

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – A Hopkins County jury has found 24-year-old James Blake Spinks guilty for leaving the scene of a fatal accident last year in Sulphur Springs.

Spinks, of Yantis, was given the maximum punishment of ten years in prison for failing to stop and render aid, after he struck 21-year-old Nathan Paul Spatero.

Jurors, however, declined to convict Spinks on charges of intoxication manslaughter.

The incident occurred as Spatero was walking along Industrial Drive in Sulphur Springs in June, 2009.
