Splash Kingdom to break ground

Officials with Splash Kingdom announced Tuesday that the official ground breaking ceremony for their Greenville water park is set for the afternoon of Feb. 10 at its future location, 6501 Interstate 30.

The word came following the quarterly Tourism Partnership Alliance Meeting, according to Greenville Chamber President/CEO Brendon Payne.

“The Greenville Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a strong partnership with Splash Kingdom,” Payne said. “This is the type of business development that will enhance our community in many ways and potentially draw other developments to our town. We also congratulate the Greenville Board of Development and the City of Greenville for helping to make this happen."

“We are very excited about the opportunity to bring the Splash Kingdom experience to the families of Greenville,” said president and owner Johnny Blevins. “We have a strong presence in East Texas with our Canton and Shreveport locations, as well as a great park just west of Fort Worth in Hudson Oaks.”

Blevins said in honor of Greenville’s rich history in aviation, the park will have an aircraft and airport theme.

“Interstate travelers will soon begin to notice plenty of activity in and around the park,” he added. “Attractions will include a wave pool, lazy river and several water slides. The centerpiece attraction will be the children’s area. This water playground will allow children to climb up into an airport control tower and slide down the wing of an airplane or the cargo area of a chopper.”

General admission prices will mirror Splash Kingdom Canton ($17-$22) and season passes will go on sale as soon as a specific opening date is established.
