Sponsor A Spindle For Renovation Of The Commerce Public Library

Michael Odom, Friends of the Library

Jim Patton, president of the Commerce Public Library Board of Directors, relates plans for a fund-raising project to refurbish the exterior of the library in time for the building's 100th anniversary next year.  The board is asking $400 per spindle, the curvy, vertical posts on the parapet that goes around the top of the building.  If donors are found for all of the spindles, the library will have raised more than $40,000 for renovation of the parapet, among other repairs.  All those wishing to sponsor a spindle may go to the library at 1210 Park St., or contact the Friends of the Library.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
