SRO officer search continues in Commerce

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The search continues for a Student Resource Officer for Commerce schools. Two rounds of interviews have been conducted, but the right person for the job has not been finalized. Commerce City Manager Bill Shipp said finding the right person for the job, and to start off an entire program, is essential.

SHIPP:

The City of Commerce and Commerce ISD reached an agreement last October for hiring the SRO. The officer will provide a law enforcement presence at primarily Commerce High School, as well as safety programs at all campuses. In summer months, the SRO will serve as a normal Commerce Police Officer.
