By Kevin Jefferies

Greenville – One person is dead and a child is the suspect in a Saturday stabbing in Greenville. Emergency crews responded to a call shortly after 10pm Saturday in the 4400 block of Stonewall Street in Greenville. One man was taken from the scene to Presbyterian of Greenville and pronounced dead after being stabbed. A 12 year old male has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Witnesses say the stabbing occurred after a verbal altercation between the victim and a female at a party at the residence, and that a 12 or 13 year old was the person that stabbed the man. Police have not released the name of the deceased or the suspect, but are treating the incident as a homicide.

The death marks the second homicide in Greenville this year.
