Commerce – Police at Texas A&M University-Commerce are investigating a fight which left two victims wounded from apparent knife wounds. Police were called to the scene at 12:27am to New Pride apartments to a party of approximately 60 or more people. Once at the scene, police found one victim who had apparently been cut with a knife. The victim was transported by ambulance to Greenville Presbyterian Hospital, treated, and released. While police were investigating the stabbing reports, a call was made at 1:12am for gunfire at Mitchell Hall in Commerce. According to investigators, at least 1 single shot was fired into the front window of the unit, wounding two. The two victims of the shooting had only minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
In a strange twist of events, a victim's vehicle was stolen during the evening. A DPS officer later found the vehicle on fire on Highway 11. An apartment rented to one of the victims was found vandalized at West Gate Apartment complex in Commerce, as well.
At this point, no arrests have been made. Officials at the University, however, report they have suspended one person from the University as a result of the early morning incidents.
