Standardized dress is proposed again for elementary students in the Commerce school district

By Bill Oliver & Scott Harvey

Commerce, TX –

Standardized dress is back before the Commerce school board. Tuesday night, CISD trustees discuss and possibly take action implementing standards in the 2008-09 school year at the district's two elementary buildings.

Please note the meeting is Tuesday night instead of Monday due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Commerce Superintendent Mike Roberts recently told KETR how well standardized dress has worked in grades 6-12 once a few bugs were ironed out. Students at Commerce Middle and High Schools must wear solid colored shirts that must be tucked in, with either khaki or blue pants and a belt.

The school board agenda also includes an evaluation of Superintendent Roberts, consider an extension of his contract, and take up a request from Roberts to create an Assistant Superintendent's post.

Tuesday night's meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Commerce Middle School Library.
