State leaders oppose healthcare legislation

By Scott Harvey

– Attorney General Greg Abbott says Texas and other states will legally challenge the federal health care legislation Congress has passed.

Abbott issued a statement late Sunday night after the U.S. House approved the measure. He said the legislation violates the U.S. Constitution and unconstitutionally infringes upon Texans' individual liberties.

State Representative Dan Flynn (R-Van) on Monday also announced his opposition of the healthcare plan, stating he views this act to be unconstitutional and a power grab by the Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid group. He continued by saying it is devastating to all Texans who have overwhelmingly voiced their concerns and received a "slap in the face" from Congress."

President Barack Obama is expected to sign the bill Tuesday.
