Wood County – New details have emerged in the case of a 45-year-old Wood County man charged with the attempted capital murder of state trooper Larry Vaughn.
Timothy Charles Parmer was wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly threatening his common-law wife with a hatchet. The woman says Parmer is mentally ill and has a meth problem.
When Trooper Vaughn, along with another officer, approached Parmer's home Sunday night Vaughn was shot in the face. He remained in critical condition at last report but is said to be doing well.
Parmer's criminal history includes numerous assault charges and running from police. His bond has been set at $10 million.
