Still Some Work to be Done on Highway

When will it all be completed? Depends on the rain.

The project to widen U.S. Highway 380 just west of Greenville is now expected to be completed by this spring. Texas Department of Transportation Greenville Area Engineer Tammy Sims said the project could be done in about three months.

The job of widening the highway from two to four lanes through Hunt County began in the fall of 2007.

Business Highway 380, where it passed through Floyd, was abandoned in favor of a new path for the highway around the city.

The project had been expected to be wrapped up by October of last year, but Sims said there were additional delays due to the discovery of previously unknown utility lines which needed to be removed and/or relocated.

Sims said much of the current work is focused on the eastbound two lanes of the highway where it connects to U.S. Highway 69.
