Storm brings straight line wind damage

During last night’s storm Delta County suffered damage apparently caused by straight line winds, according to Delta County Emergency Management Coordinator Monty Hobbs, who was out surveying scene.

South of Pecan Gap on Farm-to-Market 1532 just after midnight several mobile homes had damage to the porch and roof. One power line was down causing temporary power outage as well.

“The debris field was narrow and defined so we believe the cause was straight line winds,” said Monty Hobbs, EMC for Delta County.

The Delta County Sheriff’s office reported no other calls from the storm and no injuries.

Several areas of Texas had flash flooding and high winds. In the north central region of Texas in Valley View there was a large tornado reported near County Roads 200 and 248, west of Interstate-35.

According to officials there were no injuries and no severe damage. Interstate-35 was also closed in multiple places due to extreme high water, causing several high water rescues.
