A 16-year-old suspect is in custody after a shooting earlier this morning at a high school in Italy, Texas, about 45 miles south of Dallas.
The student wounded a 15-year-old girl. She was airlifted to a hospital after the attack. The relationship between the two is not known.
The students were evacuated to nearby Stafford Elementary to reunite with parents.
At a press conference Monday morning, Italy High School Superintendent Lee Joffre siad the district is working with District 10 to provide grief counseling for students affected by the shooting.
The Texas Rangers are joining multiple agencies in the investigation.
