By Bill Oliver

Sulphur Springs, TX –

The Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs is getting a $36 million dollar makeover with no tax increase for property owners in the hospital district.

Hospital officials announced Wednesday expanding the Emergency Department, making all patient rooms private, and gutting and remodeling patient rooms and support areas on the second and third floors. This includes replacing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The Hopkins County hospital will gain 28,000 square feet of new space and renovate another 39,000 square feet.

Groundbreaking is anticipated next March, the project will be done in three phases, and completion is expected in the early summer of 2010.
