A shooting occurred in Commerce in the 800 block of Culver Street on the morning of April 6, police said. One person was shot and was taken to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews.
Commerce ISD campuses were placed under modified lockdown following the incident. However, the lockdown was lifted later that morning, after police arrested a person identified as the lone suspect in the incident, according to Commerce school officials.
The shooting happened in a parking lot, police said. Officers responded to a call of a shooting to find that a man had been shot in the face with a 20-gauge shotgun, they said.
Police arrested a 44-year-old Commerce man and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, officials said. The shooting victim, a 27-year-old Commerce man, was treated and released on that same day, police said.
