Suspect in Commerce Stabbing Faces Unrelated Assault Charge
A Commerce woman charged with murder involved in the stabbing death of a Greenville man also has a trial pending on an unrelated indictment alleging she assaulted a Commerce Police officer.
A pre-trial hearing was conducted Tuesday in the 354th District Court concerning Myeisha Simone Garcia of Commerce. Garcia was indicted by the Hunt County Grand Jury in August on one count of assault against a public servant.
Garcia was alleged in the indictment to have attacked a Commerce Police Department officer who was attempting to place her under arrest on January 8th. She has pleaded not guilty.
Jury selection in the case had been scheduled for January 7th of next year. The case was reset following Tuesday’s hearing for a status hearing on March 20, 2013.
Garcia remains in custody at the Hunt County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond on one count of murder involving the November 28 death of Jamal Stanton of Greenville.
