Suspect in hammer attack to appear in court Monday

Greenville – Trial begins this week for a former Commerce resident, facing multiple charges for violent crime, including an alleged hammer attack in the city.

Jury selection is set for today for James Christopher Simpson on the five charges, for which he's pleaded not guilty.

He has listed addresses in Commerce, Eastland and Grand Prairie.

The hammer attack is reported to have occurred in July, 2009 in the 1800 block of Cooper St.
