Suspect in Rains County Cattle Theft Arrested in Mexico

www.tscra.org/

An Illinois man, wanted for allegedly stealing cattle from four states, including Rains County in Texas, was located in Mexico Tuesday and has been extradited back to the U.S.

The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Associationsays Ronald Sheppard was expected to be arraigned this week in Houston.

He was wanted in Illinois after violating his federally-supervised release on bank fraud charges. It was during his search that authorities learned Sheppard was sought in various locations for fraudulently taking proceeds from U.S. cattle sales in excess of $2 million.

He was indicted by the Rains County Grand Jury in May after failing to make prompt payment from an auction market.
