Greenville – Greenville authorities are searching for a suspect who posed as an officer to gain access to a residence and commit a robbery.
The robbery occurred early Wednesday at the Stonebridge Villa apartments.
The resident heard a knock on his door and the suspect identified himself as a police officer. Believing it was an officer, the resident opened his door but was then shoved back as the suspect entered and demanded money. The resident said he did not have any money and the suspect fled on foot.
Police are reminding residents that they should never open their door for a stranger and should always use their door viewer if they have one.
